Synarcade Audio-Visuals creates immersive and interactive works that combine theatre with film and music.

Emergence

Emergence was an interactive film prototype held at The Studio, Sydney Opera House, October 11 and 12. Here is the blurb from the 2005 Studio program:

"Emergence is a daring new experiment in interactive audio-visual theatre by Synarcade in which the audience must choose how the story unfolds over four screens. Emergence places the audience in an immersive environment of film, VJamming theatre, puppetry and electronic music. It is a new form of audiovisual theatre for the masses controlled by the masses!

In traditional film, it is the director that controls the narrative direction of the work whilst the audience takes a 'passive   backseat' to the whole process. But what happens if these roles are reversed? How would you react if you were suddenly in control of the narrative? What decisions would you make? How would you act ? How would you interact with the work ? How would you interact with the other audience members?

Emergence seeks to ask these questions..."
